Openness
Openness is a spectrum of projects, software, coding, websites, anything on the web that is available to revamp, personalize, and/or use.
Why?
It is useful to make material on the web open for other users. For example, if I were to create a website for my crocheting business, I could influence other users to either take, create, or modify my website to their liking and product.
How?
In order to make material on the web open, we need to establish the methods and tools. One way is to find other sites on the web that connects to your content, so that users can glide smoothly through the web with similar content.
Accessibility
The creation of guides, tools, and infrastructure in order to connect with every kind of person, whether they have a disability or not.
Why?
To reach people, you need to think at their level. “What can I do to fulfill this person’s needs?” Some people need to read content if they are deaf, or to hear content if they are blind. Others might have a hard time focusing and need to speed up videos/audios. There is a spectrum of possibilities and details to consider why we need to make our creations accessible.
How?
Some tools that creators can use to make their creations accessible include transcripts, captions, and audio.
