Why be open?

Creating open work for the internet can allow your work to reach a greater audience and help more people while simultaneously creating greater exposure for your own platform. Openness on the internet not only helps people looking for answers, but the creators of those answers as well.

How to be open?

Openness can be achieved through a number of various avenues but an example I love is Wikipedia. The goal of attempting to catalogue nearly all knowledge in human history is extremely admirable and helpful to consumers in a number of ways.

Accessibility

Why be accessible?

Greater accessibility, similar to greater openness, allows a larger number of people to enjoy one’s work. Further, the altruistic motive of allowing all people equal access to the internet is certainly a good reason to make one’s work accessible.

How to be accessible?

There are a number of ways on how to be accessible on the internet. These methods include (but are not limited to) utilizing proper article structure, headings, and accessible colors. Wikipedia has published an entire style guide for its own open articles which can double as a guide for making one’s own work accessible.
