Tell a Story with Data

Number of A’s from the undergraduate 2023 spring semester

Bar chart displaying the number of A's per course at UMW.

Story Inferred From Data

I can infer from this data what the easiest classes at UMW are and or which classes students excel the most in. The top two classes are:

  1. Computer Science
  2. English

This could also be because there are more students in specific classes and majors which could affect the number of A’s as well.

Process

I first looked up grade distributions on UMW’s website and chose the one for spring 2023. I then opened the excel file and decided to look at the undergraduate grade distributions. To make my graph for the number of A’s per course I highlighted the course and then the number of A’s and then inserted a bar chart. I then added axis titles and pasted the graph to my post!

Final Project Idea

For my final project I am going to build off of my project that I made earlier in the class. My video about my three favorite hair care products will be my first episode. My fist idea for my second episode will be a video of me showing how I use those products and then style my hair after I wash it. My second idea will be a video of me showing my three favorite makeup products. I love doing my hair and makeup so either one of those options I feel would be a good idea.

My three Favorite Hair Care Products

I chose to create a video building off of my mini podcast about my three favorite haircare products. I love doing and caring for my hair so I thought it would be a good subject to discuss.

Process of Making My Video

First off I used my mini podcast from the previous project and used it as a voice over for my video. I then used Canva to make graphics for my intro to my video along with the ending. I then recorded separate shots of the three products and edited them in so they fit in with the voice over as well as edited the transitions between graphics and the video clips so it looked more seamless. I used my phone to record the videos, I have the iPhone 14 pro max so the camera quality is very good. I then downloaded my video and uploaded it to YouTube where I added the captions.

The recording my podcast which I used for the voice over I did with my phone on the voice memos app in my closet so I could have clear non-echoing recording. I then used sound trap an audio editor to edit my audio and added a cruelty free song from the Pixbay website to the recording and edited it to make it blend well in the beginning and end. I found the royalty free music download website through the Digital knowledge center under free resources.

Hi, my name is Caitlyn, and welcome to my podcast. Today I am going to be talking about my three favorite haircare products. First up is my Olaplex #6 leave-in styling treatment, it adds moisture, strengthens, and reduces frizz for up to 72 hours. My second favorite product is my Amika Blockade heat defense serum that wraps strands in a coat of nutrients and protects them up to 450 degrees. Lastly, my third favorite hair product is my Ouai leave in conditioner which is a leave in mist that works all day to smooth, soften, and detangle hair. I love my hair and these products help me a lot with keeping it healthy.

Mini Podcast

Audio Track Subject

I chose to write my mini podcast about my three favorite haircare products. I love doing and caring for my hair so I thought it would be a good subject to discuss.

Products mentioned :

Olaplex #6 Bond Smoother

Amika Blockade Heat Defense Serum

Ouai Leave-in Conditioner

The Sephora cite and Amika cite that are in the descriptive link text support my statements in the podcast about what these products do for your hair and are reliable because they come from the company themselves and or reliable company’s that resell said products.

Process of Making my Project

The firs step in creating this mini project was coming up with my topic about my three favorite hair care products and then writing my script describing the products. The second step was recording my podcast which I did with my phone on the voice memos app in my closet so I could have clear non-echoing recording. I then used sound trap an audio editor to edit my audio and added a cruelty free song from the Pixbay website to the recording and edited it to make it blend well in the beginning and end.
